MMEA detains 2 Vietnamese trawlers off Kelantan

PASIR PUTEH: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) yesterday seized two Vietnamese trawlers that had encroached in Kelantan waters.

Kelantan MMEA director Kapten Nurul Hizam Zakaria said the first boat with three crew and its skipper was intercepted 49 nautical miles off Pantai Tok Bali at 1.35pm.

The second boat with four crew and its skipper was intercepted 46 nautical miles off Pantai Tok Bali at 2pm.

In a statement here today, he said 50 kg of sea cucumbers in the boats which were also believed to have been used to smuggle diesel were also seized. The total value of the haul was RM800,000. — Bernama
