ISKANDAR PUTERI: Pekan Nanas DAP state assemblyman, Yeo Tung Siong (pix), was today ordered to leave the Johor State Legislative Assembly after creating an eight minute fracas and disobeying the Speaker's order to sit down.
This came about after Yeo made a verbal emergency motion asking Mentri Besar Mohamed Khaled Nordin to explain the land scam which caused the state government to lose millions of ringgit.
He made the verbal emergency motion after speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Aziz announced that his written emergency motion dated March 1, proposing the state assembly form a Select Committee to oversee the land scam case investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), was rejected.
Mohamad said the reason for the rejection was due to the case still being investigated by MACC.
In the 10.35am incident, Yeo stood up to propose the emergency motion when several Umno state assemblymen also got up and asked him to sit down.
When the fracas continued despite ordering everyone to sit, Mohamad ordered Yeo to leave the assembly hall under Rule 50 of the standing order of Johor State Legislative Assembly.
Yeo said he is unhappy with the Speaker's decision because Khaled had earlier said he was not scared to answer questions pertaining to the land scam.
