GEORGE TOWN: A 42-year-old woman who was detained following the death of her 38-year-old Indonesian maid will be charged in court tomorrow.
Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said the public prosecutor has given the green light for the woman to be hauled to court.
He said the woman would be charged for murder in the magistrate's court and voluntarily causing hurt to another Cambodian maid at the sessions court.
"Her 48-year-old husband and Cambodian maid who were picked up to assist investigations will be released on a police bond," he said in a statement today.
The couple were detained at their home in Jelutong on Feb 26 to have their statements recorded.
According to the husband and wife, the maid slipped and fell down the staircase of their home but was later found unconscious.
A post-mortem report however revealed that the maid had died from blunt force trauma to the chest.
The report also revealed elements of abuse in the case.
