Azmin: PKR willing to consider giving up seats to Amanah and PPBM

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR may consider giving up their seats to Amanah and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) to ensure a straight fight in the next General Election.
Its deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said DAP and PAS had previously assisted PKR when it was formed in 1999, by handing over their seats for the party to contest.
Therefore in principle, PKR would be accommodating the newly-formed oppositions parties in facing the next election, he added.
"When PKR was formed, we did not have any seats. It was PAS and DAP that helped us by giving up their seats (for PKR to contest)," he said.
"Morally, now it is our turn to help them under the same spirit of defending the principle of on-on-one fight in the 14th General Election," he told reporters at Parliament lobby here today.
Pakatan Harapan, which comprises of PKR, DAP and Amanah, had signed a pact with Umno splinter party PPBM to ensure a straight fight in the next national polls.
However, bad blood between PAS and DAP-Amanah are feared to bring negative consequences to the opposition in its aim to topple Barisan National and form the next government.
Mohamed Azmin said there was an understanding that PKR would resume its cooperation with PAS when Pakatan Harapan signed a political pact with PPBM last Dec.
"PPBM will also be cooperating with PAS to ensure the principle of one-on-one fight can be achieved before the next General Election," he said.
