SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) has dismissed reports featured in two blogs saying that the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah was involved in a Mais lawsuit against Redha Resources Sdn Bhd.
Mais chairman Datuk Setia Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa said the council urged the two bloggers to file a written apology to the Sultan of Selangor as the reports contained defamatory and inaccurate statements against the Sultan.
"An article featured in the blog 'Another Brick in The Wall', titled 'Selangor Royal Default', published on March 6 and another article on the blog 'Rocky's Bru' titled 'While the Agong Makes Headlines', published on March 7 had raised anger and hatred against the monarchy and the state's Islamic religious authority.
"We also found that the contents of the articles directly touched on the facts of the case which is still undergoing court proceedings," he said in a statement here, today.
Accordingly, Mohamad Adzib also urged the bloggers to retract the reports and not repeat acts seen to undermine the credibility of the Sultan of Selangor and Mais.
"We urge the bloggers of the articles to stop the accusations and withdraw the articles within 24 hours of the date of this press statement issued by Mais.
"An apology should also be published in two local daily newspapers in Malay and English, with a statutory declaration from the bloggers," he said.
Adzib Mohamad said if the bloggers failed to comply with Mais' demands, it would not hesitate to take legal action against them. — Bernama
