18,387 private affordable housing projects approved in Penang

GEORGE TOWN : Some 18,387 units of affordable housing schemes have been approved thus far, to be built by the private sector in Penang.
State housing exco Jagdeep Singh Deo said the affordable housing scheme prices range from RM42,000 to RM300,000.
"This affordable housing will be built by private developers who are participating in the 100% affordable housing projects and adhere to the guidelines," he said during the balloting process for affordable housing units at The Park, Mak Mandin.
Jagdeep said the state government will continue to select eligible applicants for the various types of affordable housing and forward their names to the state agencies like Penang Development Corporation (PDC) and also to private developers participating in the scheme.
The Park is the pioneer project for affordable housing by private sector on the mainland.
Located at Jalan Mak Mandin in the bustling industrial mainland, The Park will comprise 780 housing units of 1002²ft each, priced between RM 235,000 and RM 247,000.
