GEORGE TOWN: The Federal Government must continue providing the RM50 subsidy to dialysis patients for each treatment, said Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng (pix).
He said the RM50 aid should not stop but be continued in lieu of the present economic situation
He added the State Government also did its part of giving RM30 to each dialysis patients and would continue doing so.
The State Government, Lim said, had spent RM6 million for three dialysis centres in Balik Pulau, Seberang Jaya and Kepala Batas which had a total of 40 dialysis machines, namely, 11 in Balik Pulau, 12 in Kepala Batas and the remaining in Seberang Jaya.
Lim added the state was also increasing its investments in all areas with it having a surplus budget every year.
"We really hope the Federal Government will continue its aid for dialysis patients or more," he told reporters after giving out RM100 cash under the Senior Citizens Appreciation Programme in Air Putih.
He said health issues should be given priority and the state will also extend its coverage to those in need.
