Johor MB says DAP politicised Bumi lots policy

KOTA TINGGI: Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin today rapped DAP for politicising the Bumi lots policy.
"Every state has its own Bumi lots policy. For Johor, it is 40% quota for every housing or factory project," he said after the ground-breaking ceremony of a National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) project at Batu Ampat, here today.
On the reasons why Malay did not take up these units, he said price and locality were the two main reasons.
"Malays like landed property, they don't like high-rise buildings. Malays also like a housing estate where many Malays are neighbours," he added.
He said developers need to release these houses after approved by the state government.
"DAP had made the Bumi lots a politic issue, they act like Bumi champions."
Opposition parties in the state, DAP and PKR, had lodged police reports against the mentri besar and asking the authorities to check the RM600 million Bumi property fund which was announced by Mohamed Khaled recently.
Mohamed Khaled's comments come in the wake of the arrest of Datuk Abd Latif Bandi, former exco for housing and local government, for his alleged involvement in the sale and purchase of land and property in Johor Baru.
