Urban, rural areas need same amount of attention during GE14: Khairy

SERDANG: Both urban and rural areas need the same amount of attention from Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) alike in order to win big during the upcoming 14th general election, says Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.
The youth and sports minister also said that even though BN was facing a big challenge to win in urban areas, there were also voters who would go back to their hometowns in rural areas where they were registered to vote.
"Attention must be given to voters who are residing in urban areas but registered to cast their votes in rural areas because they can determine BN's victory or loss in areas outside the Klang Valley.
"This is because issues in the urban areas can shape the discussions throughout the country," he said in his speech at the opening of the cluster meeting of Puchong Umno branches at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang today.
Khairy said urban voters who return to their hometowns to vote would also take with them the urban propaganda.
As such, Umno must pay attention to the Malays who live in urban areas such as the Puchong Parliamentary constituency, he said, adding that Umno's target in Puchong during the GE14 was to win at least the Sri Serdang state seat. — Bernama
