Charred remains of child found after terrace house fire

DENGKIL: A four-year-old child was killed after a fire broke out, completely burning one house and damaging 50% of two other house, at a housing estate in Taman Gemilang here today.
In the 4am incident, the deceased, identified as Tiew Kai Hen is believed to have been trapped in the living room.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said the department received a distress call at 4.27am.
"20 firemen from the Cyberjaya and KLIA fire stations were deployed to the scene. Upon reaching Taman Gemilang within minutes, the rescuers found the fire to be at an advanced stage," he said.
He said the house was almost completely destroyed while the unit on its left and the one on its right were 50% burned.
The firemen managed to put out the blaze within one hour after arriving and retrieved Tiew's charred remains while another another occupant of the house, believed to be Tiew's sibling was rescued.
Mohd Sani said the cause of the fire is being investigated.
The remains of the victim was sent to Serdang Hospital for post mortem.
The department said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
