Police detain six suspects in connection with armed robbery

SERDANG: Police detained six suspects and recovered weapons in connection with an armed robbery gang on Tuesday.
Serdang district police chief ACP Megat Mohd Aminuddin Megat Alias said the suspects aged between 26 and 45 were picked up at separate raids in Selangor and Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) in Kuala Lumpur.
He said a woman, believed to be the gang mastermind's partner was also arrested by the task force comprising of serious crimes division (D9) and Criminal Intelligence Branch (D4) personnel.
"The suspects were in the wanted list as the gang was involved in a house break-in incident in Seri Kembangan last April where they used an object, similar to a pistol and robbed a couple who were the occupants in the house.
"Based on our investigation, the five men, believed to be active for a year, were involved in several armed robberies, including the Seri Kembangan case last year," he said in a statement today.
Megat Mohd said police recovered an M-16 Riffle, a Revolver, 13 live bullets, gloves, caps, walkie-talkies, a 48cm length machete, a mask and stolen vehicles in the raid.
"Three of the suspects have also been imprisoned for drug-related offences," he added.
The suspects, have been remanded until March 17 and the case is being investigated under Section 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery and robbery when armed or with attempt to cause grievous hurt.
