PETALING JAYA: Insufficient information on the background of another pastor and his wife who purportedly went missing in November last year have left police clueless.
Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said police have classified the case as a missing persons report following a report lodged by a man who claimed to be a close friend of Joshua Hilmy and his wife Ruth on March 6.
He said very scarce information was given by the complainant, leaving police with little pointers.
"The report was lodged in Klang but the case was referred to PJ police as the complainant said the missing persons lived in Kampung Tunku here. However, it is yet to be ascertained where they were last seen before going missing," he told theSun when contacted.
According to the police report made by the complainant who is in his 50's, Joshua and he are close friends who often kept in touch with each other but in November last year, he neither heard from Joshua nor was he reachable till this day.
The complainant claimed that it was unusual to not hear from Joshua as they constantly called each other several times a month.
He said he feared for the safety of Joshua and Ruth and urged police to look for them.
The disappearance of Joshua and his wife surfaced following the abduction of pastor Raymond Koh by a group of masked men in Kelana Jaya here on Feb 13.
An Australian news website called xyz.net.au that reported Koh's abduction on Feb 23, had also mentioned about the disappearance of Joshua and Ruth in the same report.
The news report claimed that pastor Joshua Hilmy, a former Muslim and ethnic Malay who went missing on Nov 30 last year had received threatening phone calls in the lead-up to his disappearance.
The report also claimed there are unsubstantiated rumours that he has been taken to an Islamic re-education centre in Pahang State.
His car is also missing and his family has no idea of his whereabouts.
Sources said early findings by police showed that Joshua was registered to a Penang address and further checks on his whereabouts are ongoing.
There are also claims that he had left for Indonesia with Ruth, who is also a pastor.
The couple have no children.
