Namecalling in Parliament

KUALA LUMPUR: A DAP lawmaker spewed vulgarities in the Dewan Rakyat today after Tan Sri Annuar Musa (BN-Ketereh) took a jibe at Lim Kit Siang's 50-year political career.
Lim Lip Eng (DAP-Segambut) shouted: "Coward! Chicken! Chicken s***!" when Annuar refused to let Kit Siang interject and continued his debate.
When Annuar ignored and continued, Lip Eng shouted again "hey half man! Pondan, just shut up!"
Chaos erupted at this point, and Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee ordered all parliamentarians to sit down and not interject.
"Sit down. If you want to interject you have to follow the Standing Orders. When Gelang Patah spoke no one disturbed him, so ask for permission if you want to interject," he said.
While debating the royal address, Annuar had likened Kit Siang to former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe and ex-Philippines president Ferdinand Marcos.
"Gelang Patah has been around for 50 years with his political rhetoric. I wish to congratulate him," he said.
When Kit Siang stood up to respond to the criticism, Annuar refused to allow him to speak.
"You should give me way to respond. If you are not brave enough, if you are scared to allow an interjection, then you should not make baseless statements or accusations," Kit Siang said.
However, Annuar retorted by saying that for the whole 20 minutes when Kit Siang was debating, none of the BN MPs interjected or disrupted his speech.
He also said Mahathir had previously called him (Kit Siang) racist but was now against the government as well.
At this juncture, Teo Kok Seong (DAP-Rasah) stoop up and demanded for Annuar to retract the word "racist".
"Hey stupid, Mahathir said that (Kit Siang is racist). Rasah is stupid!" Datuk Othman Abdul (BN-Pendang) said in defence of Annuar.
Annuar said PAS will know better whether to call Kit Siang anti-Islam since he does not support Islamic affairs.
"Your opposition to Marang ((PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang) is a sign that you don't respect Islam," he said referring to Hadi's motion to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act.
