FASHION designer J.W. Anderson is heading to Florence this summer to make his debut as 'Special Guest' at the Italian menswear show Pitti Uomo.
The London-based creative from Northern Ireland, whose real name is Jonathan Anderson, will show his Spring/Summer 2018 menswear collection during the show.
"Florence's aesthetic is beautiful, which will lend itself to be the perfect backdrop for the collection," said Anderson, who is also the Creative Director of Loewe.
Lapo Cianchi, Pitti Immagine Director of Communications and Events, cited Anderson's "creativity and eclecticism" and "undisputable sartorial skill" as the reasons for selecting him to appear as special guest during the event.
"The way he reinterprets elements from the contemporary art scene and from the youth culture, alternating emotional impact (such as out-of-scale volumes) and transgression that are projected towards anticipating the future leaving little room for nostalgia, is very interesting," he said.
"And his shows are always surprising, with great communicative strength."
Since being founded as a menswear brand in 2008, J.W. Anderson has garnered a reputation as one of the most exciting labels on the London fashion scene.
Womenswear followed in 2010 and the brand has since shown consistently at London Fashion Week. In 2013 the LVMH Fashion Group acquired a stake in the brand, and in 2015 Anderson became the first creative to win the British Fashion Awards for both "Menswear" and "Womenswear Designer of the Year".
Pitti Uomo, which takes place twice yearly, will run from June 13-16 2017. — AFP Relaxnews
