SHAH ALAM: PKR will leave it to the PAS leadership on its Permatang Pauh division's decision to cut all political cooperation with the party, said Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
"I leave (the decision) to the wisdom of the PAS leaders.
"We will see what will be decided (by the PAS leadership) during their upcoming Muktamar.
"For PKR we want parties that are progressive to join us. Our stance has never changed," he told reporters after chairing the monthly meeting between Selangor state agencies at the state secretariat building, here today.
Mohamed Azmin who is also PKR deputy president said that the plan to ensure one on one contests between the Oppostion parties and Barisan Nasional is still on.
"We need the leadership of all parties to sit and discuss how to execute that plan for the upcoming general election," he said.
He also reassured that ties between PAS and PKR in Selangor remains firm and cooperative.
"Selangor PAS has issued many statements previously defending the joint-agenda that they had prior (to the dissolution of Pakatan Rakyat) at the state assembly sittings, Exco meetings among others.
"The PAS excos have vigorously defended the state government's policies so there are no problems or issues with them," he added.
Mohamed Azmin's response came after Permatang Pauh PAS yesterday renounced its ties with PKR citing that the party has been establishing cordial ties with DAP and PAS splinter Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) against the principle of tahaluf siyasi (political cooperation).
Permatang Pauh PAS chief Omar Hassan had said a resolution on the matter was unanimously passed by its members as the actions of PKR could jeopardise the position of PAS when facing Muslim voters in the 14th general election.
