Govt tables RM4b supply bill (Updated)

KUALA LUMPUR: The government has tabled a supplementary supply bill seeking an additional RM4 billion to augment its Budget 2016.
The total amount consists of RM3.08 billion, which will go towards operational expenditure and RM987 million for development expenditure.
For last year, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak had tabled a budget of RM267.2 billion.
Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Othman Aziz tabled the bill for first reading today in the house after Question Hour.
The lion's share of the operational expenditure of RM2.24 billion is to be channelled to statutory funds.
A total of RM297 million is for the Education Ministry for purchases of land and capital aid.
The Transport Ministry is to be allocated RM215 million.
The Transport Ministry's expenditure covered the construction and repair works between Kuala Krai and Kuala Lipis train stations, jetty construction and repair works for the Marine Department, Industrial Collaboration Programme, compensation payout and land premium.
The additional funds for the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry, totalling RM128 million, is for developing a home for critical patients and a special rehabilitation centre for young offenders.
The Health Ministry's request for RM104 million is to cover expenditure of management of medical supplies at its headquarters and in the states.
An additional fund of RM62.7 million is for the Election Commission to cover the costs incurred during the Sarawak state elections last year, including emoluments, supplies and services.
Over RM24.1 million is for the Foreign Ministry for its multi-lateral affairs, offices of representatives overseas as well as for the building maintenance and repair works.
Under the development expenditure, a total of RM602.7 million is for the Works Ministry and RM350 for the Human Resources Ministry.
