PETALING JAYA: The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) has taken action against a bus driver who was caught speeding recklessly and threatening and hurling abuses at three passengers in a car, including a one-year-old toddler, along the Kuala Lumpur-Genting Highlands highway near here recently.
A 51-second video clip of the incident, posted on Instagram and Facebook by Khalsom Som on Sunday, has since gone viral on social media.
"Notice 79 has been issued for dangerous driving," SPAD told Khalsom in response to her post, adding that the vehicle's permit has been revoked pending the investigation.
SPAD also said it would be interviewing the bus operator and the complainant immediately.
The clip shows the bus driver speeding on the slow lane of the highway to get beside the car that was on the middle lane.
As soon as he caught up to them, he was seen gesturing angrily at the car.
The bus driver was also seen weaving in and out of traffic on the three-lane highway.
Once the bus was in front of the car on the highway, the driver can be seen veering into the lane of the car, thus preventing them from overtaking the bus.
Khalsom said that the incident had flared because her mother, who was driving the car, honked at the bus driver who, she claimed, drove recklessly to overtake the car as they approached a two-lane tunnel.
When the car exited the tunnel, the bus driver gave chase and soon after the driver went into a rage.
"He immediately started honking back as he 'flew' into the left lane just ahead of us.
"Furious and concerned as we had my one-year-old baby in the car with us, my mother tried to 'get away'," she said.
Khalsom said that after the bus overtook them, she told her mother to slow down as her baby was in the car.
"He drove right ahead of us, intermittently slamming on the brakes and did not allow us to get past him," she alleged.
