Fire razes two restaurants in the middle of KL (Updated)

KUALA LUMPUR: Two restaurants were razed in a fire that broke out this afternoon at Jalan Nagasari, off Jalan Raja Chulan here.
City Fire and Rescue Department operations centre chief Samsol Maarif Saibani said they were alerted to the incident at around 1.50pm and 24 firemen from the Hang Tuah, Pudu, and KLCC stations were dispatched to the scene.
"The blaze was brought under control at 2.25pm and was completely put out at 3.13pm," said Samsol Maarif.
Damaged in the fire was a budget hotel called Hotel Naka, the Albasatna Treasure restaurant and the Vietnam restaurant. The affected premises were located near the Movida outlet.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
Firemen later entered the scene and made their way through the restaurants to ascertain the cause of the fire.
There were a slew of onlookers recording the incident at the area.
Earlier, pictures of thick, grey smoke emanating from the scene was spread by netizens on whatsapp and went viral on Facebook.
Meanwhile, a police source assured that there was no criminal element in the fire.
He did however add that the cause of the fire is currently being investigated and that it was probably from a gas tank or cooking stove explosion in one of the kitchens.
