PETALING JAYA: UMW Land Sdn Bhd and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) are coming together to develop a high value manufacturing park in Serendah, Selangor.
The park will be a mixed development of residential and commercial buildings constructed on 861 acres of land with a main focus on facilities for aerospace and other industries related to smart manufacturing.
Among others, it will house the UMW Aerospace’s production facility of aeroengine fan cases for Rolls-Royce, which is expected to be the premier and integral constituent of the park, and will act as a catalyst to draw in other high value investments.
UMW Land and Mida inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (Lima) exhibition, to explore areas of collaborations and co-operation the two could embark on for industrial development of UMW’s landbank in Serendah.
“We are excited to sign the MoU and are looking forward to working closely with Mida as they will be able to assist in facilitating interested potential investors by introducing and recommending the development project in Serendah,” said UMW Land president Dr Wafi Nazrin.
Meanwhile, Mida CEO Datuk Azman Mahmud said the project will be a new addition to the free trade zones in the country, which gives investors the choice to invest in over 500 industrial estates that are fully equipped with infrastructure facilities such as roads, electricity and water supplies, and telecommunications... and are continuously being upgraded by the state governments and private developers to meet demand.
