ATSC explore aircraft maintenance opportunities in Vietnam and Indonesia

LANGKAWI: Aerospace Technology Systems Corp Sdn Bhd (ATSC) intends to explore opportunities in Vietnam and Indonesia in aircraft maintenance as their Sukhoi Technical Centre (STC) was awarded Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) for Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Su-30MKM from the Directorate General Technical Airwothiness (DGTA).
Its Chief Executive Officer Lt Col Mohd Fadzar Suhada said right now in Vietnam there are about 33 Sukhoi while Indonesia 16, and the figures enabled the company to explore opportunities to conduct joint maintenance acitivities for some common system on the plane.
"We just received a certificate of recognition from DGTA Director General Brig Gen Datuk Dr Md Zaki Md Zin yesterday, the same certificate for aircraft maintenace MiG29-N belongs to RMAF.
"With this certificate, our company can perform SU-30MKM aircraft intermediate level maintenance (ILM) servicing," he told Bernama on the sideline of Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace 2017 (LIMA '17).
DGTA Malaysia, which is a regulatory body for airworthiness management for state-registered aircraft in Malaysia, has audited ATSC facilities, people and equipment at RMAF Gong Kedak Air Base, Jerteh Terengganu and upon satisfactory findings, awarded ATSC-STC with AMO for Su-30MKM until 8 Dec 2019.
He added that currently ATSC was enhancing its capabilities to undertake overhaul of the aircraft which would be done locally with work sharing with the aircraft manufacturer.
ATSC was formed as an offshoot of the MiG-29 Offset Programme between the government of Malaysia and Russia. Its primary activity is Maintenance and Repair Overhaul (MRO) focusing on Russian aircraft and technologies.
ATSC now had 25 skilled and experienced engineers including 100 experienced technicians. — Bernama
