Trans-border kidnapping case solved (Updated)

JOHOR BARU: Police have solved the trans-border kidnapping case with the arrest of the 39-year old Indonesian suspect in Yong Peng on Monday.
State police chief Datuk Comm Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said the police have arrested in total 13 suspects in Johor, six in Indonesia and with that they have concluded and solved the kidnap case of a 44-year old housewife.
The victim was kidnapped from her house in Bandar Putra Kulai on Feb 21, taken illegally by boat via Pengerang to a house at a farm in Batam and kept captive for 27 days.
With the cooperation of the Indonesian police, they managed to rescue her on May 19, and was subsequently brought home safely.
The kidnappers, aided by the victim's maid, are believed to have demanded a ransom of S$3mil (RM9.5mil).
The case was resolved following the close operation between the Malaysian, Indonesian and Singapore police.
Meanwhile, Wan Ahmad said they have submitted the investigation paper on the accident involving a group of cyclists along Jalan Lingkaran Dalam, near the Mahmoodiah Muslim cemetery at 3am, February 18 to Attorney- General's Chamber.
He said it was up to the AG's department to decide on the course of action against the 22-year old driver who ploughed into the cyclists, about 30 to 40 of them, resulting in eight of them being killed.
Wan Ahmad also disclosed that the Johor Narcotics Criminal Investigations Department (NCID) will destroy 267 kg of various drugs and drugs material valued at RM10.8 million confiscated in the last 10 years.
In the first three months of this year, he said, they seized drugs worth RM28.6 million besides drug paraphernalia valued at RM11 million.
