JOHOR BARU: Thousands of Johoreans gathered here today for the pre-launch of Bangsa Johor dream house scheme under the Sultan Ibrahim Foundation at Galleria @ Kotaraya mall.
The event was officiated by Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.
Jalan Trus, which leads to the mall, was closed to traffic by noon as thousands of people had already gathered at the mall although the registration counters for potential buyer only opened at 5pm after the ceremony ended.
Applications can also be done online.
The housing project, with the selling price below RM100,000 per unit, is a gift from the Johor ruler in conjunction with his birthday today.
Sultan Ibrahim, who arrived at the mall about 3.30pm, had earlier said that a total of 1,840 homes would be built over several phases at different locations.
These include Bandar Dato Onn, Bandar Baru Majidee and Jalan Yahya Awal.
The first phase in Bandar Dato Onn will comprise 600 units with a built up area of 1,100sq ft each, all with freehold titles.
Among others, the semi-detached houses and the three-bedroom bungalows are expected to be priced under RM100,000 per unit.
Best part is that successful applicants would only need to pay a deposit of RM1 for a full loan with an easy repayment scheme.
Applications for these houses is limited to Johoreans.
Another condition is that they do not own any house.
The huge crowd at the mall also saw eateries and other outlets enjoying brisk business.
