PETALING JAYA: AirAsia Bhd yesterday announced that its affiliate, AirAsia (India) Ltd (AAIL), filed a police report as a result of investigations by external parties into irregular personal expense claims and certain company charges of former personnel in November 2016.
The report was made on the recommendation of external investigators.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, AirAsia said AAIIL filed a police complaint in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, on Nov 9, 2016.
The issue came to the public eye when Tata’s ousted CEO Mistry Cyrus claimed that fraudulent charges of 22 crore rupees were found at the joint venture company between AirAsia and Tata Sons Ltd.
In October 2016, AirAsia said there was an ongoing investigation against certain former personnel and that it had already been reported to and discussed at the previous board meeting of AAIL.
AAIL however did not make any specific reference to the matters investigated at that stage, on the grounds that it could be prejudicial to AAIL or the personnel being investigated.
