DBKL seizes 122 units of PPR, PA housing

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has seized 122 units of houses under the People's Housing Project (PPR) and Public Housing (PA) since January this year, after the occupants were found to have committed various breaches.
DBKL Housing Management and Community Development senior deputy director, Mohd Muzammer Jamaluddin said among the violations were renting out their units illegally including to foreigners while some of the houses had been left vacant.
He said the seizures, made from January to today involved PPR Pekan Kepong, PPR Kampung Muhibbah, PA Desa Rejang and PPR Kerinchi, Lembah Pantai.
"We will not compromise with tenants who are caught breaching the housing conditions. This stern action was taken after we issued 481 termination notices to tenants from January to March," he told reporters while participating in a DBKL operation at PPR Kerinchi, Lembah Pantai, here, today.
During today's operation, he said, 19 houses were seized after eight units were left vacant, while 11 units were occupied by illegal tenants.
Mohd Muzammer said DBKL also locked the water supply to 173 units due to unpaid bills amounting to RM1,000 and above each. — Bernama
