KUALA LUMPUR: More European and North Asian investments are expected to flow into Malaysia through mergers and acquisitions (M&A) this year.
Malaysian Merger and Acquisitions Association (MMAA) vice president Yap Kong Meng said European countries might find a footing in Malaysia because of the similarities in terms of market structure, whereas North Asian countries such as China, Japan and South Korea will come in due to familiarity.
Echoing the same sentiments, Intralinks senior vice president Asia Pacific Allan Robertson said at the collaborative agreement signing ceremony between Intralinks and MMAA here today, Asia-Pacific markets holds growth potential, with Malaysia being one of the prime.
"Global companies are looking for growth and Asia Pacific has economies that are growing, as in some of the western countries growth has started to slow down," said Robertson.
"There is also some volatility, therefore global companies might be looking for diversification at other areas and that is what is driving them to come and look at Asia specifically," he added.
The two parties signed a collaborative agreement to collaborate and promote best M&A practices and technology in Malaysia.
