KUALA LUMPUR: MCA has organised a year-long cultural exchange programme to further strengthen Malaysia's diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties with China.
MCA vice-president Datuk Hou Kok Chung said the event, called "Belt and Road: Malaysia - China Culture and Arts Year", will include 10 programmes between April 14 and August 30 where artists from Malaysia and China will be showing off their work.
"This is a joint effort by several arts and cultural associations to foster good relations with China, but not just in terms of economic benefits but also in arts and culture. There are many similarities among us," Hou told a press conference at Wisma MCA today.
Participating organisations include the Malaysia Calligraphy Association, Malaysian Artists Society, Chinese Medium Writers Association, Malaysia Chinese Cultural Society, and etc.
Hou said 500 participants are expected to participate while a 58-man delegation from China including government officials and renown Chinese artists will also be visiting.
