IPOH: Police clarified that their personnel took all the necessary precautions to assist an accident victim, contrary to a social media posting claiming that police refused to use their patrol car to send the person to the hospital.
Perak Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department head SAC T. Selven said police alerted paramedics who arrived in an ambulance to administer proper medical treatment.
He was commenting on the accident which occurred at the junction of Jalan Raja Ashman Shah and Jalan Kamaruddin Isa involving a motorcyclist and a cyclist on Thursday.
"The medical personnel have the experience in handling accident victims and they have the relevant equipment.
"In this situation police have no medical expertise to remove the victim and send the person to the hospital in a patrol car.
"As it may worsen the injuries, especially for victims with broken or fractured bones," he added.
Selven said police personnel on the scene controlled traffic flow during the accident so it would not block access and delay the arrival of the ambulance.
"We thank the public and netizens for their support and awareness to understand such unexpected situations," he said.
