Mother, daughter detained over stealing RM1,300 worth of items at supermarket

JOHOR BARU: A mother and daughter were arrested for allegedly stealing various items of daily essentials worth RM1,300 at a supermarket in Taman Bukit Indah, here, yesterday.
Iskandar Puteri District police chief Supt Noor Hashim Mohamad said the two, aged 58 and 30, were arrested at about 1pm by a security guard at the supermarket before lodging a police report at about 5.30pm.
"The two housewives were detained at the exit of the supermarket with a cart containing the items believed to be stolen which were put in plastic bags.
"Among the stolen items were two packets of rice, two bottles of cooking oil, laundry detergent, toys, several pieces of children's clothing and a few bars of soap," he told reporters here today.
Noor Hashim said initial investigation found that both of them had come from Batu Pahat and admitted to stealing all the items. Both of them tested negative for drugs.
He said the 30-year-old woman had three children, including a baby aged nine months. — Bernama
