Disabled woman dies in fire at PPR flat in Salak Selatan

KUALA LUMPUR: A disabled woman died in a fire at her unit in the People's Housing Project (PPR) flat in Salak Selatan, here, this afternoon.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations chief Samsol Maarif Saibani said the remains of Chang Peng Kiew, 57, were found with 80% burns lying on a sofa in the living room of the house.
"In the incident about 5pm, 50% of the house was destroyed," he told Bernama today.
According to him, a fire-engine and a team of six firemen from Bandar Tun Razak fire station rushed to the scene and managed to douse the fire.
"The victim's remains were sent to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre.
"The cause of the fire and loss incurred is still under investigation," he said. — Bernama
