Final decision on PAS - PKR ties to be decided at muktamar

SHAH ALAM: The decision of several PAS divisions calling for its leadership to sever ties with PKR will only benefit its splinter opponent Parti Amanah Negara, PAS Selangor commissioner Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad said.
The Selangor Exco member also said the motions to sever PAS - PKR ties were not final, as any decision on the party's official stand would only be made in its muktamar (annual general meeting) next month.
"We are not afraid of losing power, we are afraid that PAN (Amanah) will come in (into the Selangor government)," he told reporters after attending the opening ceremony of the first Selangor State Legislative Assembly meeting this year.
It was reported that 10 of PAS divisions in Penang and four PAS Youth divisions in Selangor had passed motions to urge the central leadership to cut ties with PKR.
Despite not being a part of the opposition coalition Pakatan Harapan, PAS still maintains its position in the Pakatan-led Selangor government, with three of its assemblymen appointed as state excos.
Iskandar urged for all parties to not jump into conclusion and wait for a decision to be made during the PAS AGM soon.
"The motions from several areas will only be decided during the muktamar, " he said.
"I believe issue such as this must be seen in an overall perspective. We wait until the muktamar comes," he added.
