KANGAR: Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalulail (pix) wants members of the police force at the border areas to carry out their tasks with honesty, responsibility and transparency.
He said working at the border areas was a big challenge and required a high level of commitment, particularly in combating cross-border crime, human trafficking and smuggling.
"Therefore, strategic cooperation among all agencies like the National Blue Ocean Strategy in each operation will make it more effective."
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin said this after participating in a 16km cycling event, 'Kayuhan Sedia Berkhidmat', held in conjunction with the 210th Police Day celebration which started and ended at the Seriab Police Housing surau grounds, near here, yesterday evening.
The event was also held together with a welfare programme organised by the Perlis Islamic Religious Council (MAIPs) with the cooperation of the state police contingent headquarters and Kelab TTG Perlis.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin who is also the head of MAIPs, said the public appreciated the contribution of the police force but there was still room for improvement in public-police relationship.
He also said that police officers and other personnel needed to be exposed to a myriad of knowledge and equipped with soft skills, besides recognising the public's role in maintaining peace and security.
"As people today have become more individualistic, the situation requires an approach that can bring together a complex community," the Perlis Crown Prince added. – Bernama
