Promoting workplace and workforce health

AIA Bhd recently launched a survey on the health and well-being of employees at workplaces around Malaysia, inline with its campaign called Malaysia’s Healthiest Workplace by AIA Vitality.
According to AIA, the aim of the survey is to analyse health trends in the workplace and recognise the efforts made by employers to promote a healthy working environment. A broad range of organisations, industries and employees were covered in the survey.
THE WORKINGS
The Malaysia’s Healthiest Workplace by AIA Vitality campaign comprises a survey that examines two areas of health – the employer, as in the organisation and the employee, the worker.
The survey probes data pertaining to employee lifestyle, clinical indicators and mental health, with the objective of assessing its impact on health and productivity in the workplace. It also identifies Malaysia’s healthiest employers, healthiest employees and healthiest workplaces across a range of large and small organisations.
The survey invites organisations to participate, in which they will receive in return:
▶ a comprehensive report outlining the overall health of the organisation;
▶ insights into how they fare against other employers; and
▶ practical recommendations to improve health and productivity at the workplace.
Employees who complete the survey will receive a personal health report.
The survey will be conducted by RAND Europe, a research organisation, with counsel from preeminent academic institutions from around the region.
BENEFITS OF THE SURVEY
AIA Bhd CEO Anusha Thavarajah shared about the importance and benefit of companies investing in the well-being of their employees and improving workplace environments.
“We are delighted to launch Malaysia’s Healthiest Workplace by AIA Vitality – the first science backed workplace survey. We believe that promoting employee health and well-being is of critical importance to all organisations, regardless of size. It is a fact that investing in the health and wellbeing of employees can save both the public sector and private companies billions of dollars,” Thavarajah said.
AIA will also run a similar survey across Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore. Organisations partaking in the survey will be “judged” to determine the overall “healthiest workplaces and employees”.
