Berjaya Books to open 10 new Borders bookstores

KUALA LUMPUR: Berjaya Books Sdn Bhd, which signed a brand licensing partnership with Smartwheels Resourcee Sdn Bhd, aims to open 10 new Borders bookstores in three years.
Smartwheels Resources managing director Datin Yuskiahniza Md Yusof said the total investment for the 10 stores is about RM20 million.
The first store, which is already under construction in Mesamall, Nilai, will be opened in May. The 5,800 sq ft store will be the first lifestyle bookstore in Nilai.
Berjaya Books Sdn Bhd director of business development Hishammudin Hasan said it will open another two more stores this year.
He said on average, each new store costs RM1.8 million. To date, there are seven Borders bookstores.
