Bumiputera Economic Transformation will amplify wealth creation : Teraju

PETALING JAYA: The Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (Teraju) will amplify wealth creation for the Bumiputera through the launch of Bumiputera Economic Transformation Roadmap 2.0 (BETR 2.0) next month, said Teraju senior director Megat Mohd Yatim.
Speaking to a group interview here today, he highlighted that the Bumiputera income in the private sector is still concentrated in the bottom 40 category, with a significant jump in the low income range of between RM1,000 and RM2,000.
However, he said there was a drop in the high income range of above RM12,000.
According to Megat, the five focus areas for BETR 2.0 are education and human capital, employment and income, corporate equity, entrepreneurship and non-financial assets.
Besides wealth creation, it also aims to increase Bumiputera participation in the high valued added sector and accelerate Bumiputera companiew growth.
Teraju was set up in 2011 to act as the secretariat to the Bumiputera Agenda Action Council, established to set policies, strategic direction and review the progress and delivery of various programmes and initiatives pursuant to the bumiputera development agenda.
