Foreign students found after going missing at Bukit Broga

KUALA LUMPUR: Two foreign students who went missing while hiking at Bukit Broga, Semenyih on Wednesday were found safe early today.
Selangor Fire and Rescue assistant director Mohd Sani Harul said the two victims, a Kenyan man Nyamu Wanyolke, 20, and British woman Katie Clubb, 19, were found by the search and rescue (SAR) team at 2.45am.
"They were found about one kilometre from the summit of Gunung Tok Wan and efforts to bring them down is underway," he said in a statement here today.
He said the duo appeared weak and fatigued but did not suffer any injuries when they were found by the SAR team.
Both the victims, who are students of the Nottingham University campus here, would be given initial treatment before being sent to the hospital for further checkup.
Earlier the rescuers managed to contact the two victims via short messaging service (SMS) and they informed that they were safe but failed to provide their location accurately.
The two students were reported missing at about 7.50pm while scaling the Peak 3 of Bukit Broga.
A total of 48 personnel from various agencies were involved in the SAR operation, including Special Tactical Operation Rescue Malaysian (STORM) team. — Bernama
