Six perish in collision in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: Six people including a woman and two children were killed after their car was involved in a collision with a four-wheel-drive vehicle at Km32 Jalan Lahad Datu-Tawau here last night.
Lahad Datu police chief ACP Hamzah Ahmad in a statement here today said the 10pm incident took the lives of Said Tuan Ramba, 28, and five others in the Proton Saga car, namely Ismail Mangu, 25, Markus Mae Siku, 52, Parida Perada Jamuludin, 35, Shahril Ismail, five, and Putri Ismail, two.
He said the accident happened after the Proton Saga which was on its way from Lahad Datu to Tawau went out of control at a bend and crashed into a Isuzu Dmax coming in the opposite direction.
"The Isuzu driver could not avoid the car as it was too close," he said, adding that the driver of the 4WD also sustained serious injuries. — Bernama
