JOHOR BARU: The police detained five teenagers early yesterday, following a botched attempt a day earlier to rob an Indonesian in Skudai.
A machete and a car were seized from the suspects aged between 17 and 18.
Johor Baru Utara police chief ACP Mohd Taib Ahmad said in the robbery attempt, the would-be robbers arrived in a car and confronted the 38-year-old victim who was returning from a restaurant in Taman Universiti.
He said when the Indonesian fled from the teenagers, he was slashed in the back before the group fled empty-handed.
In a statement here today, Mohd Taib said the suspects were picked up and remanded for three days to facilitate investigations into several robberies in the district. — Bernama
