Yazbukey is game, set and match for quirky Lacoste capsule
UNDER the auspices of creative director Felipe Oliveira Baptista, the crocodile brand has joined forces with irreverent designer Yazbukey to reinterpret the brand's classic tennis-inspired pieces, bringing humour, colour and a touch of pop culture to Lacoste's iconic polo shirts, T-shirts and accessories.
After the brand's collaboration with Jean-Paul Goude last fall, Lacoste has stepped into the bright, fun-filled world of Yazbukey for a brand new tennis-themed capsule collection. Landing just over a month before this year's French Open, the capsule is perfectly timed to splash the tennis court with colour and joy, making traditional tennis garb a bit more fun.
Tennis ball emoticons
After a previous Lacoste collaboration in 2015, with a series of accessories from the "Lacoste x Lesage" haute couture collection, the quirky jewellery designer has created three emoji-like tennis ball characters for her new Lacoste capsule. One of Yazbukey's ball emoticons looks worried, scared of the famous crocodile, while a seductive ball puckers up with sensual red lips – one of the designer's signatures – and a chic ball sports black shades.
The Lacoste x Yazbukey collection features tennis-inspired essentials for men, women and children, including the iconic men's polo shirt in piqué cotton – available in white, navy, blue and red, reinterpreted with new graphics and motifs – plus a women's boat-neck T-shirt with an irregular check print and a white unisex cap for kids.
Fashion fans can also score accessories including four tote bags in various sizes and colors, and a circular zip-up wallet in the shape of the sensual tennis ball emoticon.
The capsule goes on sale in April in Lacoste stores worldwide. — AFP Relaxnews
