Remand for businessman in Johor Sultan bribery case extended for 3 days

PUTRAJAYA: The remand order on a businessman who was held last week by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over the alleged attempt to bribe the Johor Sultan was extended today by another three days.
The 54-year-old suspect, who is a Tan Sri, was taken to the Putrajaya magistrate court earlier where the remand order extension was issued.
He was detained on Thursday after surrendering himself to the MACC at its headquarters here following a warning by MACC deputy chief commissioner (Operations), Datuk Azam Baki.
The businessman was represented by counsel Datuk K. Kumaraendran, Datuk Joshua Kevin and Linda Goh.
On March 25, Sultan Ibrahim revealed that he was offered two million ringgit as an inducement to propose an individual's name to the Chief Secretary to the Government for a 'Tan Sri' title from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
