KUALA SELANGOR: What was supposed to have been a drinking session among friends ended in tragedy when one of them was stabbed and slashed to death after two assailants attacked the victim at Batang Berjuntai here on Monday.
In the midnight incident, the deceased identified as A. Sukumaran was having some drinks in front of his house with his two friends.
Once the session ended, as Sukumaran and his friends approached their motorbikes, a car approached the trio and two assailants were seen getting out of the vehicle.
Kuala Selangor district police chief Supt Ruslan Abdullah said the two men, who were armed with parang, chased Sukumaran to an oil palm plantation nearby.
"The two friends tried to find the deceased but they gave up after 4.30am as it was too dark to locate Sukumaran.
"The deceased was found at 7.30am today after a female passer-by found the body with no shirt on him at the oil plantation," he said, adding that the woman contacted emergency services immediately.
Ruslan added the victim had several stab wounds on the chest and minor wounds on his arms.
The body was sent to Sungai Buloh Hospital for a post-mortem.
Ruslan added the suspects have been identified and police are on the hunt for them.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
