22-year-old seriously injured in gas cylinder explosion

KUALA LUMPUR: A 22-year-old local sustained serious injuries when a gas cylinder exploded at the parking lot of a six-storey building in Jalan Raja Chulan here, early today.

City Fire and Rescue operations centre chief Samsol Maarif Saibani said the man was seriously injured on the pelvis and has been sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
He said a fire and rescue team arrived at the scene within 10 minutes following a distress call from a member of the public at 4.40am.
"11 firemen from the Jalan Hang Tuah Station were dispatched to the scene.

"Initial investigations found that the gas cylinder was one used to extinguish fire," he said, adding, the cause was still being investigated.
Pictures made available to theSun showed the youth lying unconscious on the floor after the accident.
