HighTech industries needed to create high paid jobs: Johor MB

JOHOR BARU: HighTech industries are needed in Johor to create high paid jobs for locals, said Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
Khaled who will head a team comprising representatives from government-linked companies and exco members to attend a robotic exhibition in Shanghai for five days starting April 12 said they need those in the robotic industry to set up their businesses here so that locals can get good well-paid jobs.
"If we attract only property developers, than we need to bring in foreign workers for the industry," he said after the ground-breaking of Plentong bridge project here today.
On Forest City project, Khaled said, it has changed its marketing strategy following Beijing's introduction of tighter rules to stop capital flight into offshore investments. - This is because Forest City, which would have four manmade islands in Gelang Patah upon completion, is meant to cater to the global market and not Chinese buyers alone.
"It Malaysians buy property in Singapore, we will impose some restrictions on our citizens," he added.
On the capital control measure, he said, it is only limited to buying overseas property.
The Johor state government’s share in the Forest City project, or more specifically KPRJ, is via Esplanade Danga 88 Sdn Bhd, which holds a 34% stake in the Country Garden Pacificview Sdn Bhd (CGPV).
CGPV is the developer and operator of Forest City project, which is a joint venture between Country Garden Group and Esplanade Danga 88 Sdn Bhd. CGPV is 66% owned by the China-based giant through Malaysian registered subsidiaries Country Garden Waterfront Sdn Bhd, Country Garden Danga Bay Sdn Bhd and Country Garden Real Estate Sdn Bhd.
It was reported Forest City had RM11.54 billion (S$3.6 billion) in sales last year and sold 15,000 units, with Chinese nationals accounting for 70 per cent of the buyers.
