Police detain two, seized drugs worth RM222,000 in anti-narcotic op

GEORGE TOWN: Police detained two men and seized drugs worth RM222,000 during an anti-narcotic operation just after midnight on Wednesday.
Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said the break came when police detained a 22-year-old youth at Jelutong about 12.05am.
He said police searching the car found two plastic packets containing ketamine, 100 Eramin 5 pills and 120 Ecstasy pills.
He said police were then led to a house in Butterworth where packet of ketamine, seven Eramin 5 pills and 12 Ecstasy pills were found.
“From there, the police team was led to another house at Taman Chai Leng in Prai where a 56-year-old man was detained,” he said in a press conference today.
Mior said the suspects then led police to another house in Butterworth where 50 packets of ketamine, 20 packets of syabu and 3,425 Ecstasy pills in various colours.
“In all, police seized 1,340.65g of ketamine, 510g of syabu, 3,557 Ecstasy pills and 107 Eramin 5 pills,” he added.
Mior said police also seized RM70,000 cash while the drugs were meant to be distributed locally.
“Both of them are believed to be operating for the last five months,” he said.
The two have been remanded until next Tuesday to facilitate investigations under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
