No Malaysians involved in truck attack in Stockholm: Wisma Putra

PUTRAJAYA: No Malaysians were involved in the truck attack in Stockholm, Sweden yesterday afternoon, said Wisma Putra.
In confirming this in a statement here today, the Foreign Ministry said the Malaysian Embassy in Karlavagen 37 advised Malaysians to report to the Embassy of their condition and to avoid busy streets in Stockholm.
However, Wisma Putra said the Stockholm authorities had yet to announce the nationalities of the victims involved in this attack.
Stockholm was put on a lockdown situation after a hijacked truck ploughed into a street full of pedestrians, near one of Stockholm's main department stores (Ahlens).
It was reported at least five people were dead and 15 injured while one suspect had been arrested in connection to the attack incident in Drottninggatan in central Stockholm.
Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven called the crash a terror attack.
"The attack seems to have the same modus operandi as the Nice and Berlin attacks last year as well as the horrible incident in Westminster bridge a few weeks ago, where vehicles were being used to carry out terror attacks.
"The public are advised to avoid the city centre for the moment," Wisma Putra said.
