Four killed in two-car collision at Tanah Merah

TANAH MERAH: Four people were killed when two cars collided head-on at Km89 of Jalan Kota Baru-Machang-Jeli, Batang Merbau here today.
The dead were the driver of a Nissan Bluebird car, Mohd Roza Ismail, 38 and three others who were in a Proton Saga car, namely Muhamad Saiful Sidik, 17, Paridah Ismail, 54, and Nur Assyifa Muhamad Shaharil, three.
Tanah Merah district police chief DSP Suzaimi Muhammad said in the 1.39am incident, three of the victims died at the scene while another was pronounced dead at the Tanah Merah Hospital (HTM).
Two others sustained serious injuries, namely the driver of the Proton Saga car, Muhamad Shaharil Sidik, 31, and his sister, Suhaila Sidik, 23, he told reporters here.
Suzaimi said the family travelling in the Proton Saga car were from Jeli, while Mohd Roza from Felda Kemahang here, was driving from Jeli to Machang.
"The cause of the accident is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.
The bodies of the four victims had been sent to the HTM for post mortem while the injured victims were also sent to the same hospital for treatment. — Bernama
