Sarawak police nab 34 suspects involved in illegal gambling

MIRI: Police arrested 34 suspects aged between 15 and 23, after carrying out 23 raids against illegal gambling operations in Sarawak last week.
Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Chief Datuk Dev Kumar said the operation was conducted from April 3-9 with 21 of the raids involving those selling illegal lottery (illegal 4D) tickets at the counters.
"The 21 illegal 4D raids resulted in the arrest of 25 individuals and seizure of cash amounting to RM7,327," he said in a statement here today.
Dev said those detained would be investigated for offences under the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
"The operation against illegal gambling in the state will be an ongoing process," he added. — Bernama
