HBO Asia's Dead Mine sports international cast and crew

HBO Asia and Infinite Studios’ landmark co-production, Dead Mine, features an international cast and crew.

Directed and co-written by acclaimed British horror director Steven Sheil (Mum & Dad), Dead Mine stars cult Japanese action star Miki Mizuno (Sasori, Guilty of Romance, Bayside Shakedown), British actors Sam Hazeldine (Weekender, BBC’s Persuasion) and Les Loveday (Mad, Sad & Bad), and Malaysian actress Carmen Soo (Malaysia-Philippines television series A Time for Us, Singapore television series The Pupil).

Other regional cast members include four renowned Indonesian actors Ario Bayu (The Forbidden Door, Rumah Dara), Bang Tigor (Suami Suami Takut Isteri), Joe Taslim (Rasa, The Raid) and Mike Lewis (Cinta Fitri, Suster Ngesot); as well as Singapore-based Japanese actor Jimmy T (American Yakuza, Dance of the Dragon).

Dead Mine tells the story of how the legend of Yamashita’s Gold lures a rich amateur treasure hunter and his expert group deep into the Indonesian jungle.

Once they find themselves trapped in what is seemingly an abandoned WWII Japanese bunker, they face the terrifying reality that the only way out is further in.

This English language action-horror feature film – shot entirely in Batam, Indonesia, both on location and in Infinite Studios’ brand-new sound stage facility – is the first-ever original feature film co-production for HBO Asia.

It also benefits from the involvement of key creative talents such as in-house production designer Ian Bailie, who served as supervising art director on Atonement and Pride and Prejudice; director of photography John Radel, an award-winning Australian cinematographer who has worked on international feature films including Gillian Armstrong’s docudrama Unfolding Florence, and The Philosophers; and stunt and action choreography team Action Horizons, who currently operate the WaterWorld show at Universal Studios theme park in Singapore, and has worked on movies such as The Usual Suspects, Air Force One and Killers.

Dead Mine will be given a theatrical release in selected Asian territories followed by exclusive television premieres across the HBO Asia network in 2012.
