FBM KLCI ends morning session marginally higher

KUALA LUMPUR (April 30, 2013): The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) ended the morning session marginally higher today, with trading marked by sporadic bargain hunting, dealers said.

The benchmark index improved 1.05 points to 1,709.02, against yesterday's close of 1,707.97, after hovering between 1,702.83 and 1,711.39, and led by Maybank. Contributing 1.413 points to the CI, Maybank's share rose nine sen to RM9.63, with 11.608 million shares exchanging hands.

Nestle topped the gainers list in rising 58 sen to finish at RM61.98 with 101,200 lots traded. On the scoreboard, the Finance Index rose 37.98 points to 15,949.45. However, the Plantation Index slipped 1.26 points to 8,055.32 and the Industrial Index eased 5.41 points to 2,840.33.

The FBM Emas Index shed 0.02 of a point to 11,649.65, the FBM Mid 70 Index fell 20.09 points to 12,824.82, and the FBM Ace Index declined 6.36 points to 3,962.51. The FBMT100, however, improved 1.79 points to 11,493.47. Losers led gainers 367 to 166, with 283 counters unchanged, 801 untraded and 35 others suspended.

Among actives, MNC Wireless added one sen to 24.5 sen, Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor perked four sen to 67.5 sen, while SapuraKencana was flat at RM3.10.

For the heavyweights, both CIMB Group and Petronas Chemicals added one sen each to RM7.73 and RM6.50, respectively. Axiata Group shed one sen to RM6.76 and Sime Darby slipped two sen to RM9.42. – Bernama
