Datuk 'K' stable after motorcycle crash in New Zealand

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 14, 2012): Datuk Seri Khalid Mohamad Jiwa, better known as 'Datuk K', is recuperating at a hospital in Queenstown, New Zealand, following a motorcycle crash Thursday afternoon.

The husband of Malaysian songbird Datuk Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin sustained a broken shoulder, and injuries to the hands and legs when he fell off the vehicle while avoiding a piece of wood on the highway.

His niece confirmed the crash which occurred at about 12.30pm (Malaysian time) when contacted by Bernama last night.

She said Datuk K was reported to be in stable condition at the hospital in Queenstown, a resort town in Otago in south-west New Zealand's South Island.

She said Datuk K was in Queenstown to attend to business matters, adding that Siti Nurhaliza and the singer's sister-in-law, Datin Zaiton Mohammad Jiwa, would depart for New Zealand tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Siti Nurhaliza, via Twitter, apologised to her fans in Banjarmasin, Indonesia that she was forced to cancel her concert, 'Konsert Ekspresi Karya Gemilang' tonight as a result of the accident. – Bernama
