Hamdan Bahari speaker of Perlis assembly

KANGAR (June 28, 2013): Hamdan Bahari, former director of the Perlis Community Development Department (Kemas), was sworn in today as the speaker of the Perlis state legislative assembly.

His appointment was proposed by Perlis Menteri Besar Azlan Man and seconded by state executive councillor Sabry Ahmad, at the state legislative assembly.

Hamdan, 60, had been the Perlis Kemas director for seven years before which he had served for about 30 years as a teacher and as the principal assistant director (secondary division) at the Perlis Education Department.

After his retirement from government service, he served as the assistant director (human resource) of the Perlis Islamic Foundation for two years.

Also today, all the 15 Perlis assemblymen, including two from the opposition, took their oath of office before Hamdan. The Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail, is scheduled to open the first meeting of the first session of the 13th Perlis state assembly on July 1.
